Sophie Hardeman transforms collection presentation into a festival

Models, press, audience, and designer all danced together during the show for Rogue 66

Denim was at the heart of the collection Sophie Hardeman showed at Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek Amsterdam, which was anything but ordinary. A 45-kilometre car, denim sofas, and a rock band turned the show into a performance that looked surprisingly like an American high school party.

Once the audience had taken their seats – on denim-covered couches – the sounds from the band started to get raw and loud. Models ran down the runway and the audience started to dance to the band's rousing beats. Both spectators and press were invited to stand side by side with the models and dance through the final moments of the show. Only a few moments before, Sophie Hardeman herself joined the dancers, to tumultuous applause.

Where is Esperanza

As with all of her collections, this show was visually enhanced by a film, this time called, Where is Esperanza, made in collaboration with Hannah Rossalin and debuted during the show. Where is Esperanza also provided the storyline for the performance. Both the film and the presentation were a search for a woman described as sexy, daring, and loving. These key elements set the tone for HARDEMAN's gender-neutral denim collection.

Rouge 66

The collection was full of snug-fitting jeans with matching thongs, high, cuffed boots and tie-dyed prints. Classic denim jackets were paired with skirts, tight jeans, and crop tops. The centrepiece of the collection was Esperanza stepping out of the car halfway through the show, clad in a tie-dyed denim dress and high boots with cutout details.
