RE by Reconstruct redefines pieces into a full-fledged collection

The Rotterdam-based collective constructed looks in their own personal way

Rotterdam-based collective Reconstruct showed an interesting mix of styles on Sunday afternoon. Six designers, Laura Aanen, Zara Asmail, Alyssa Groeneveld, Kim Kivits, Michelle Lievaart and Sanne Verkleij, made it their goal to redefine fashion by disassembling familiar pieces and reconstructing them in their own personal way, which is clearly displayed in their striking new collection.

The collection reiterated several unique details like wrinkled material, tulle collars and snaps. These designers clearly aren't afraid of combining a multitude of ideas into one. The long-sleeved puffer coats – and proportionally very short torsos – fit with today's leading fashion trends, but they’ve been given a new twist. The burgundy version with matching oversized trousers was an especially strong look. The loose, pastel pink top and translucent trousers amongst the edgier pieces was a surprisingly sweet ensemble that actually worked. All in all, the girls seem to complement one another well, as they've managed to put together an attractive collection. They're breaking from the modern hyper culture and see themselves as part of a new movement that’s reconstituting design. We're very curious about what Reconstruct will have in store for us in the future.
